-taps the page- This thing on? Hello? Test-test-testing 1, 2, 3, testing 1, 2, 3.

Alright! I think I wrote one of these a long time ago. ANYWAYS! My name is Nadine Burns my facebook is facebook.com/fantasyrealitycosplay (that's my page, I'm too lazy to find out what my actual page is). I am an up and comming dedicated Sailor Moon collector, fan and cosplayer. I have a miniature top hat buisness that isn't going as golden as I like, however, when I did start to put this in motion I researched my bottom off for copyright laws. I'm not a lawyer and do not claim to be, but I spoke with one to be 100% SAFE on this.

Well the other day a friend and I were commenting to a person known as "Moonsisters.org" who claims to be the leading expert on bootlegs. Now, there are bootlegs out there, I'm not saying there aren't. However I was trying to legit explaing to the person their facts aren't correct, however their ignorance really -REALLY- surprised me when I found out I was banned from their facebook page and they claimed I was "trolling" them. Clearly the internet has yet again proved to me that people don't get any smarter as our technology advances.

However, they were downgrading and discracing artists and artisan crafters. According to them, if it's not a offical licensed item, it's bootlegged. Which means, artists that hand draw their prints such as www.etsy.com/listing/87605380/… considered a bootleg item. However, this is artistic interpetation of the character and by copyright laws, is more then a minimum amount to which any laws/copyrights can not and will not affect the artist. So yes, it's not an offical item, however this is not illegal what so ever. I was really kindly trying to explain this. Also, conventions have an artist alley, and as long as an artist is not tracing/printing off offical copyrighted material and selling it (then it is illegal and if caught said artist will be removed/banned/blacklisted from said convention. conventions don't joke with stolen stuff and they encourage con-goers to report artwork and dealer room items if it's shady/bootlegged).

Now I can understand the shadyness of artwork, looks offical but it's really not even if they are within the legal limits to draw and sell their work. I get that, however stating that something like this www.etsy.com/listing/102525200… is considered a bootlegged item, then their ignorance is REALLY REALLY REALLY showing. First of all, there are no "offical" cupcake charms. And really, sailor moon's hair style is a legit hairstyle in Japan, not just some silly little thing they did for the show. Secondly, a bow, hair style, food and colors can not be trademarked or copyrighted. I've heard jokes of the Apple company sueing anyone that uses an apple on anything (which I don't know is true or not) and from what I was told is you can't trademark something that is used/seen in just about EVERYTHING under the sun.

If you know moonsisters.org or support them, that's all on you. And have no qualms with this person, however if I do ever meet them I'll show them my buisness license that basically when I pay and sign for it means I agree to all buisness laws and rules and regulations including those partaining to trademark, copyright, and patent items. Meaning, I basically steal said item and sell it as my own work I can face heavy fines from the state/federal level as well as any reprecutions that the company in question that I stole from wishes to press onto me.

As for bootlegs in general, I like them (not the videos, just the nicknaks). They are different and to me one of a kind. This whole attack on etsy.com and artisan crafters that sell on ebay, looks to me as if moonsisters.org wanted something so bad but either lost the auction or couldn't afford the item. I'm not bashing them for this, DO NOT say I am. I am stating that this person doesn't seem like they cosplay or do artisan crafts.

So yes, I apologize for if I seemed like I was trolling you. But when I bust my butt with a lawyer (she didn't mention that on her page that I said that) to make sure I don't get sued or screw with my husband's military career, don't ever say I'm wrong unless you have hard facts pulled right out of a lawbook. Also, there's a photo on their facebook page about "If you won't say it to your mother's face. Don't post it on the internet." Well my mom is almost 62 years old, had her own buisness for about....80% of that time. She knows the changes in buisness law and has also been coaching me on what I need to know. She also refered me to her lawyer to help me with this. Don't believe me, go ahead and message her Liese-Lore Harp on facebook. She types slow and her english isn't 100% the best when she types, however she can put -ANY- of you in your place over buisness topics (unless your older then her...then this doesn't apply to you XD)
Spelling maybe off in places, however this is something that most people need to be aware off. Im posting this in Sailor Moon groups cause this is mostly about Sailor Moon items, however this can be applied to any fandom.

Awesome Job, I totally agree, fan art and handmade item claims as being bootleg are just pure hate and those people that claim that they are are just trouble makers. Don't have respect for people like that. Handmade artists are NOT scammers for selling their craft even if the character based is copyrighted. It's not a crime and not common for people to be upset about. Seems more like jealousy if you do.
